SEATTLE, Oct. 3, 2023—Moss Adams, one of the largest accounting, consulting and wealth management firms in the nation, announced Andy Mattson has been named chair of the Committee on Taxation for the California Society of CPAs (CalCPA). CalCPA is the largest state association of CPAs in the United States.
Mattson and his committee will provide CalCPA members with current information on tax laws, programs, regulations, and revenue rulings while serving as a liaison for the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board, Board of Equalization, and Employment Development Department. Mattson brings almost 40 years of experience in corporate, partnership, and individual tax and compensation planning, stock option taxation and planning, and international taxation.
“We’re proud to see Andy serve as a leader to other CPAs in California,” said Ty Pforsich, regional managing partner, greater Bay Area, for Moss Adams. “Through his advice and experience, Andy will empower CalCPA members to be better accountants and business advisors.”
Mattson has served as a tax professional in Silicon Valley since 1985. He has served for over 20 years as an appointed member of multiple American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) committees and technical resource panels to help shape tax policies and rules.
“Serving as the chair for this committee will allow me to empower current and future California CPAs to go the extra step in their roles,” said Mattson. “Our goal is to help CPAs embrace being a partner to their clients rather than just their tax expert. Over the next year, a major focus of mine will be on educating CPAs about the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA). The CTA is the most comprehensive anti-money laundering regime since the US Patriot Act and is projected to affect over 33 million entities.” Mattson is the Chair of the AICPA’s CTA Task Force.
