Sheetal Sewal has practiced public accounting since 1996. She’s part of the Silicon Valley office venture fund tax practice and has extensive experience with partnership tax issues in the venture fund industry. She has experience working with private equity fund partners and principals providing tax planning services. She also has a unique set of tax consulting skills in serving funds, its investors, and general partners. In addition, she works with start-up and emerging-growth companies in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, income taxes, and multistate and international tax planning. Christine Ballard has practiced public accounting since 1988, beginning her career in the federal tax practice and specializing in international tax planning for inbound and outbound businesses for more than 15 years. She works with a variety of clients in the technology, agriculture, and manufacturing industries, including start-ups, both domestic and foreign, assisting these innovative companies with structuring their venture financing through offshore holding structures. She’s a member of Moss Adams India Practice and Latin America Practice services teams and serves as the firm’s Latin America tax services liaison, providing seamless global relationships for clients. She’s been involved with the AICPA for more than 10 years and is currently the chair of the AICPA’s Passive Foreign Investment Company Task Force (PFIC). She’s also past chair of the International Tax Technical Resource Panel, which submits guidance and recommendations to the IRS and Department of Treasury on international tax matters and has lately focused on the international aspects of US tax reform.

Jim Dubeck has been practicing public and private industry tax accounting, with a focus on partnerships, since 1990. He has assisted numerous clients in private equity, real estate, manufacturing, technology, finance including hedge funds, and alternative energy industries with analyzing, planning, modeling and documenting partnership transactions. His primary focus is on acquisition and dispositions of partnership interests, debt financed distributions, disguised sales, carried interest issuances, cancellation of indebtedness transactions and maximization of basis recovery deductions. He’s also restructured C corporation and S corporation debt and submitted ruling requests with the Internal Revenue Service on corporate divisions.
