$75 Million Is Available in January for California Competes Tax Credit Program

The California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) is authorized to allocate up to $75 million in California Competes Tax Credits (CCTC) for the program’s next application period. Applications for the CCTC will be accepted online from January 2, 2019, through January 21, 2019.

Qualifying Businesses

The CCTC is available to businesses—regardless of size or industry—planning to add full-time jobs in California that meet any of the following criteria:

  • California-based companies thinking about expanding
  • Out-of-state companies planning to start a business in California
  • Out-of-state companies planning to relocate operations to California
  • Companies contemplating leaving California

As of June 2018, GO-Biz has allocated $829 million to 974 companies projected to create 95,139 new jobs and make $17.9 billion in new investments.
