Curt Covington, Senior Director of Institutional Lending, AgAmerica Lending

Curt joined the AgAmerica team in March 2020 but began his career in ag finance in 1979. As Senior Director of Institutional Lending at AgAmerica Lending, Curt’s major initiatives include building customizable products as well as developing efficiencies for the large loan process as the company continues to evolve. Prior to AgAmerica, he was the Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer of Farmer Mac. Curt is also the owner and operator of The Agricultural Lending Institute headquartered in Fresno, California. Throughout his professional career, Curt has held a variety of positions in agricultural organizations and has spoken as a keynote speaker for various ag conferences. He was also a professor at California State University, Fresno’s School of Agricultural Economics for more than 25 years.

John Duryea, Managing Partner, Blue Road Capital

John is a founding partner of Blue Road Capital. Prior to Blue Road, John was the portfolio manager for Ospraie Special Opportunities, a fund launched in February 2006 focusing on less liquid investment opportunities across basic industries and commodities. Prior to joining Ospraie in September 2005, John was an original member and Managing Director at Ripplewood Holdings. John began his professional career at Goldman, Sachs & Co. as a founding member of the formalized merchant banking efforts in Private Equity, Distressed Debt and Venture Capital. He received a BA from Yale University.

Matthew Corbett, Partner, Agriculture, Fiera Comox

Matthew is a Founding Partner, Agriculture at Fiera Comox (founded in 2016). Fiera Comox is building a globally diversified portfolio of agricultural investments and currently has an AUM of over $500M, including its partnership with Auvil Fruit Company (apples, cherries) in Washington state. Matthew was previously a founding member of PSP Investments Natural Resources group, where he undertook ~$2B of direct investments. Matthew also sits on the Board of Auvil Fruit Company and Eastern Australia Agriculture. He received an MBA from McGill University and a BSc from Queen’s University and has an operational background in farming and forestry in Canada.

Paul Pittman, CEO, Farmland Partners Inc.

Paul Pittman has served as the Executive Chairman, President, and CEO at Farmland Partners Inc. since its initial public offering in April 2014. Since 2008, Paul also has served as the President of American Agriculture Corporation and Pittman Hough Farms LLC. Prior to this, Paul has held a variety of positions in a variety of industries worldwide. Paul began his career at Sullivan & Cromwell as an Associate in Mergers and Acquisitions. Paul graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS degree in Agriculture, received a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard University, and a JD with Honors from the University of Chicago Law School.

James Rothenberger, Partner, Moss Adams

James has worked in the finance industry since 2007. He advises middle-market business owners over a range of corporate finance services, including preparing for a business transition, assisting with a company sale, making strategic acquisitions, or raising capital for growth. While his clients span a number of industries, James primarily focuses on the construction and engineering, food and agribusiness, and manufacturing and distribution industries. Prior to joining Moss Adams, James was an associate at a middle-market private equity firm based in the Pacific Northwest.
