Biography

Porter is a partner in the firm’s Professional Practice Group. He focuses on complex technical accounting and SEC reporting matters, advising firm personnel and clients on the application of US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other financial reporting requirements.

Prior to rejoining Moss Adams in 2024, Porter served for three years at the SEC as a Professional Accounting Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant (OCA). During his time at the SEC, he worked closely with standard setters and other SEC staff while performing technical accounting consultations and supporting SEC rulemaking activities. Porter led OCA’s crypto-asset topic team and also focused on matters related to revenue recognition, financial instruments, business combinations, and consolidations.

Porter began his career in public accounting at Moss Adams in 2009, providing assurance and advisory services to clients across a variety of industries.
